With the new year comes the launch of a new Horizon Europe project by the Ruđer Bošković Institute - PATTERN (Piloting open and responsible Activities and Trainings Towards the Enhancement of Researchers Networks). This project focuses on coordination and support, aiming to promote the practice of open and responsible research and innovation (RRI) through the development and piloting of activities and training for researchers at all stages of their careers. Financed within the Horizon Europe Framework Program, the project spans 42 months and involves a total of 19 organizations and institutions from 13 European countries. One of the partners is the Ruđer Bošković Institute, with its Center for Scientific Information and the Department of Public Relations and Promotion of Popularization Projects actively collaborating on the project, including the development and implementation of training for researchers.

During the 5th General Assembly of the European Open Science Cloud Association (EOSC) held on November 28th, the application of the Ruđer Bošković Institute (RBI) for membership was accepted, making RBI part of a community of over 200 institutions whose goal is to promote openness in science and encourage and support the development of infrastructure for open science.
U okviru projekta NI4OS-Europe (National Initiatives for Open Science in Europe) od 30. studenog – 1. prosinca 2022. održava se radionica (hackaton) pod naslovom “Hands-on workshop: Touching on Data and Open-Source Software for Open Science”. Tema radionice su otvoreni istraživački podaci i softver otvorenog koda. Radionica je hibridnog tipa (on-line i on-site) u organizaciji Računarskog centra Sveučilišta u Beogradu (RCUB), Sveučilišnog računskog centra Sveučilišta u Zagrebu (SRCE) te Instituta Ruđer Bošković (IRB) i održava se istovremeno na više lokacija. u Srbiji i Hrvatskoj
Izdavačka kuća Elsevier pripremila je za jesen niz webinara i diskusija na engleskom jeziku u svrhu stručnog usavršavanja knjižničara i znanstvenika.
Confronting the climate crisis requires rapid knowledge exchange across geographical and economic boundaries, as well as among various scientific disciplines. In line with this, this year's Open Access Week aims to foster connections and collaboration between the climate movement and the international open science community. This is an opportunity to come together, take action, and raise awareness about how openness contributes to climate justice.

Institutu Ruđer Bošković simbolično je uručena preslika povijesne isprave s imenom Ruđera Boškovića. Ispravu je u ime Nacionalne i sveučilišne knjižnice uručila dr. sc. Dijana Machala, pomoćnica za djelatnost središnje knjižnice Sveučilišta u Zagrebu, dr. sc. Davidu M. Smithu, ravnatelju IRB-a.

U sklopu trenutačno dostupnog probnog pristupa na časopise i e-knjige izdavača Bentham Science, hrvatskoj akademskoj i znanstvenoj zajednici omogućena je objava 10 članaka u otvorenom pristupu bez troškova objave (APC – Article Processing Charge).
