American research institutions are now required to provide free and public access to the results of state-funded research as soon as they are published. The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) has issued updated guidelines for ensuring immediate access to research results funded by the government in a newly released memorandum. This document represents a significant shift from the previous terms of public access to scientific findings. Public institutions are expected to fully adapt their policies to the new guidelines by the end of 2025.
